1. What is Talika?
Talika is a Windows based multi-lingual spreadsheet.
2. What is the need of Talika?
Windows based other spreadsheets are designed specifically for English like languages. Whereas Talika is a multilingual software for Indian languages. Even though you can type in Indian languages in the above software, you cannot use the commonly required facilities like Find/Replace, Insert Date & Time for Indian languages. Secondly, the price of this software is also affordable to the common user
3. Is Language to Language Transliteration facility available in Talika?
Yes. You can transliterate text from one Indian language to another.
4. Can you import graphics in Talika?
Yes. The graphic filter formats supported are Graphical Image File Format (GIFF), Tagged Image File Format (TIFF), Windows Bitmap (BMP), JPG and PCX
5. Can you resize an imported graphic?
Yes. The inserted graphic will be resized according to the size of cell in which you have inserted graphic. Thus by adjusting the size of cell you can resize the inserted graphic
6. What character attributes are available in Talika?
The character attributes available are Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikeout, Superscript and Subscript.
7. Is text rotation possible in Talika?
Yes. For that you first select the cell (or group of cells) whose text you want to rotate, click on Format button and then set the angle of rotation from the alignment tab
8. How do I display all the text in a cell?
Yes. For that you first select the cell (or group of cells) whose text you want to wrap, click Format button and then check on the wrap text option from the alignment tab
9. Can I insert a bullet in a cell?
You can easily insert bullet in Talika by selecting a cell and then clicking on Bullets from Format menu
10. Can I open multiple Talika files in application?
Yes. Talika is MDI(Multiple Document Interface) supported. You can open multiple Talika files
simultaneously.
11. Is number to word facility available in Talika?
Yes
12. I have opened multiple files and I want to see them simultaneously. What to do?
For viewing multiple files simultaneously click on Tiled option from Window menu.
13. What is custom series? And how to use that ?
If we want use the common data like weekdays / months etc frequently in Talika we can make the
Custom list of this data using Custom Series Generation of Data menu. And when we want to use
it we have to type any word from the list , select some cells below it and click Series option from
Fill option of Edit menu. Here you can set the different options for the list.
14. Why autocalculate option is disabled?
Autocalculate option will be enabled only when you will insert any formula in your file.To autocalculate the Formulas inserted in Cells select 'Autocalculate' option from Edit Menu.
It calculates and updates all the values of Formulas entered in sheet with respect to changed values from its range.
15. For inserting a symbol I used key sequence but it didn’t work. So how to use it ?
To work with this key sequence you have to work with the keys from Numpad.
16. If I have created students’ table and I want to see particular class’s students’ information then how to do that?
Using AutoFilter and advanced filter you can filter the data you want to see. And after this if you want to see all the information then you can click ‘Show All ‘ option from ‘Filter’ option of Data menu
17. Can I set the print area of the Talika file?
Yes. For that you select the area, go to File Menu and click on ‘Set Print Area’ option from ‘Print Area’ option of File menu.
18. Can we open files of any other format in Talika?
Using import option or directly selecting the particular file type you can open files of different type like excel files, database, lotus files etc
19. Can we save Talika file in any other file format?
Using import option or directly selecting the particular file type using Save as option you can save the file in particular format like .xls, .txt, .dbf etc.
20. When I open file of any other file format sometimes Insert Picture window comes. What is that?
Using import option or directly selecting the particular file type you can open files of different type like excel files, database, lotus files etc. Here when there is any picture/ image file is inserted in that then Talika asks for the location of it in the opened file. And hence for the files including images this form will be shown.
