Yes, after changing /upgrading operating system MID values does not change. These values are Hard disk dependent and not OS dependent. Therefore, old password will work after changing / upgrading the Operating System.

I have changed / upgraded my machine. In this case, the same password will work or not?
Same password will not work, after changing/upgrading machine i.e. Hard Disk Drive (HDD), Motherboard etc. then MID values change. So these MID values are hardware dependent. Therefore, old password will not work after changing / upgrading the Hardware.

During installation, Wrong Identifier error occurred.
If 'Wrong Identifier' error occurred during installation of font, make sure that-
1. No other drive is mapped -> if yes disconnect mapped drive temporarily.
2. Required CD / DVD for font installation is not inserted in DVD drive.
3. CD / DVD is read by DVD drive properly or not.
