What is an Escapement Key? How to change 'Escapement key'?

Postby ModeratorRA » Fri Mar 18, 2016 5:17 pm

Escapement Key-
In Indian Scripts we are providing characters that are more than that provided on NORMAL & SHIFT state of the Keyboard. To type such characters, we virtually create third layer of the keyboard. To do this, we use an Escapement Key. We press this, and then the next key typed is like typing for the third layer of the keyboard. The Key Sequence that is required as Escapement Key can be set by user by using Escapement Key Option in Shree-Lipi application. By Default (Ctrl + Space) combination is an Escapement Key; but if the user is facing some problem in using this key combination he can change it by using the Escapement key option under Setup menu of Shree-Lipi main application.

For changing the Escapement Key-
1. Double click on the icon of Shree-Lipi (yellow icon) in the system tray.
2. Click the 'Setup' menu, click on 'General Setup', and then click on 'Escapement Key'.
3. Click on the key combination that is most suitable for you from the drop down list box.
4. Press the Apply button. After this the same combination can be used to get ‘Control Shift’ or ‘Alt’ layout characters.
5. Press the Cancel button to undo the changes you have done in the previously.
